The fishermen we've talked to from around the country can hardly wait to get their hands on the Lowrance StructureScan. POSITIVE ION CONTROL: Counteract fish-repelling negative energy fields with Cannon’s Positive Ion Control technology. Emits a field of positive ions to draw fish to the cannonball – right where you want ’em.
SHORT-STOP: Automatically stops the weight at the water’s surface, preventing the lift motor from raising it into the pulley at the end of the boom. When the downrigger cable is in the water, a small electrical current flows between the cable and grounded metal boat components in the water. When the cable clears the water, the current flow stops. The Short-Stop system senses this interruption and turns off the motor. The trolling weight insulator is used to break the cable contact to the water while the weight is still in the water. Stopping the weight at water level eliminates the cable strain caused by a bouncing weight or a weight hitting the boom end, and it also keeps the weight from swinging into the boat hull. This feature requires the boat to be properly grounded.
CANNONLINK: The CannonLink™ Fishing System Module from Humminbird® unlocks the potential of select Humminbird Fishfinders (Humminbird 1100, 900, 700 or Matrix Series) by allowing you to network up to six Cannon Mag20 DT/TS and Mag20 DT/HS downriggers to the fishfinder. Propulse adjustable pitch propellers

For many boaters, Propulse propellers have answered your prayers. Propulse boat props have a unique design which allows a boater to manually change the pitch of the prop so it will perform ideally to your boat. If you use one prop for speed or cruising and a lower pitch for watersports, now you can do it all with just one prop! If you are tired of having to go to the prop shop or buy a new propeller a few times a year because of prop damage, with Propulse you can simply swap out individually damaged blades. Sound like a gimic? Maybe, but it does work. Performance? These four blade props will provide you with great acceleration, handling, stability, cruising speed, and fuel economy!

Adjusting the pitch of the blades

1) Loosen the bolts (7) about four turns with an allen wrench

2) Lift the ring (4) so as to release the locking teeth about 2 mm between the ring and the rear hub section (3)

3) Set the required pitch on the graduated scale (10). This is easiest to do if the propeller is positioned with the ring in the upward position. Then grasp two opposing blades and turn these until the desired pitch has been achieved. The central position represents the pitch stamped on the foot of the blade. The pitch increases by one degree per division on the plus side and reduces by one degree per division of the minus side. Note that all four blades moves synchronized at the same time.

4) Press down on the ring so that the locking teeth inside mesh

5) Retighten the bolts crosswise. Tighten firmly but without excessive force. Never use an extension on the wrench

Replacing Blades

1) Unscrew and remove all four bolts (7) from the propeller

2) Dismantel the ring (4) and the rear hub section (3) so that the blades are separated, then remove the damaged blade

3) Assemble the rear hub section (3) and the ring (4)

4) Position the blades in the recesses. Make sure that the arms from the blades enter the recesses in the ring. Do not use excessive force

5) Assemble the adapter (1) and the front hub section (2) into position

6) Fit the bolts and tighten until about 4 turns remain

7) Set the pitch as shown in the separate description

8) Tighten the bolts, firmly but without excessive force

ICE-55 users will also notice the model’s unique purple target line. Ice fishermen can set the target line at a specific depth so they know exactly what depth they should lower their jig.

“The target line is a great feature when a school of fish comes through,” Logue expanded. “Users can mark the depth the school is at so they know where to lower their jig after each bite – even if the flasher isn’t marking a fish at that moment.”

Each ICE model features a dual beam transducer (selectable 9 or 19 degrees) that allows the flashers to double the view of a specific depth range in the water column. Other flashers only allow users to zoom in on the very bottom section of the water column. When ice fishermen press the zoom key, two tic marks bracket the area to be zoomed by 2x on the flasher display.

The suggested retail prices for the new ICE Series models, available to consumers in September of 2008, range from $299.99 to $499.99.

Choosing the right Trolling Motor for your Bass Boat

With the way boating accessories are now adays you could spend days going through the options for a trolling motor for your boat. I am going to try to help you narrow down your choices. You have to choose a 12v, 24v, or 36v system for the trolling motor. For those of you that know as much about electricity as I do 12v is one battery, 24v is two, and 36v is three batteries. The way to choose the power that you need is by how much your boat weighs and what you are doing with it. For small boats under 1000 lbs. a 12v system should work out fine. The Minn Kota Endura is great for a transom mount, but a Minn Kota Edge is more suited for the bow mount. For boats from 1000 lbs. to 2000 lbs. a 24v system is required, so the batteries will not run out quickly. For bass boats a bow mounted Minn Kota Maxxum would be a great choice, and then for a Deep V or multi species boat a Minn Kota PowerDrive or Minn Kota Terrova would be ideal. Now that you have chosen the correct power you need to look at shaft length. Minn Kota Motors makes Composite Trolling motor shafts from 36"- 60". The advantages of lenth depends on the draft and height of your boat. Larger boats like big walleye boats and Great lakes Bass boats, need the longer 54"- 60" shafts to keep the motor head in the water while bouncing in the waves. Where as the shorter 48" shaft is good for shallow water fishermen. Now onto the most important part of choosing a trolling motor, choosing the thrust. The thrust determines the force the motor excerts to pull the boat. The thrust ranges are from 36 lbs. to 101 lbs. Depending on the what you are using the boat for is what you need the thrust for.

I use my boat in a river, that drops into bay and eventually leads out to the ocean where I go as far as 10 miles outside. This is New Jersey.
